Dr Rosemary Ramsay

Palliative Care in the home, the role of the pharmacist now and in the future

Tasmania faces the challenge of an ageing population who often live in rural, remote and sparsely populated areas. There is an increasing burden of chronic disease and cancer in rural Tasmania. In the North West of Tasmania there is a strong focus of care for palliative care patients in their homes and aged care homes.

The community pharmacist is a valuable member of the palliative care team. The session will look at the care needs of patients and how the pharmacist is a key member of the team.
