Changing demographics of Tasmania: A new frontier for the local pharmacy network

The demographics of Tasmania are changing but the ageing of the population continues. Population growth concentrates on minor cities and the regions for the first time in a long time. The workforce is separating increasingly into high- and low-income earners while the middle-class shrinks away.

Customers learned new behaviours during lockdown as they took to working from and online shopping. Will Zoom-fatigue lead to an increased desire for in-person healthcare for local knowledge workers? Can low-educated locals benefit from easily accessing medical information through the pharmacy network via telehealth? Pharmacies have a big role to play in combating medical misinformation. The existing pharmacy network could be utilised to counter the several challenges facing the Tasmanian population.

Join Simon in a fast-paced and entertaining journey through the demographics of Tasmania and changing role the local pharmacy network might have.
